How To Order Trailer Hitches. Determine the Gross Towing Weight (GTW) and tongue weight (TW) of your trailer. The GTW is the weight of the trailer fully loaded and ready for towing. The TW is the downward push exerted on the hitch ball by the trailer coupler. Check your owner's manual to find the maximum GTW and TW for your vehicle. Important: Do not tow the trailer if either the GTW or the TW exceeds the towing vehicle's maximum towing capacity. Check the weight-rating code(s). The numbers (1 through 8) indicate the rating code of the ball mount recommended for the Class III hitch; order ball mount separately. "WIRE" letters (AA, BB, CC, DD) indicate the connectors or light converters that are recommended for the Class III hitch. Other accessories that may complete towing package: Ball mount, trailer ball, pin and clip, receiver tube cover, hitch lock, safety chain, bike carrier, taillight connector, plug-in t-connector, taillight converter, brake controller, weight distribution, sway control, hitch light and transmission cooler.
